Annual General Meeting
6.30pm Wednesday 5th June 2013 at St Pierre Marriot Hotel and Country Club Chepstow All welcome ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our 1st Anniversary as a Walkers are Welcome town was celebrated between 5th and 7th April 2013. Everyone had such a good time. The walks and weather were fabulous and the icing on the cake was the flash mob singing/dancing in Beaufort Square by walkers and the Singing Club of Chepstow (Video out soon!) Thank you to everyone including you the partakers that helped and supported this event and made it so special. Here's to next year! ____________________________________________________ In April 2012 Chepstow and the surrounding area received a feather in its cap by becoming the first Walkers are Welcome town in Monmouthshire. The area was already established as a destination for walkers but now having achieved this status it re-inforces it's reputation as a place to come and visit. Gaining this status will also help the town develop plans that will benefit everyone, providing extra facilities for walkers and visitors alike and ensuring that any problems with footpaths are dealt with as quickly as possible.
______________________________________________________ What makes it so special for walkers?
We have the ingredients: 4 long distance walks all starting either in or near Chepstow
Public transport - Chepstow railway station provides a regular service to Gloucester and Cardiff. Travelling to or from London or Bristol requires only one change at either Newport or Severn Tunnel junction. The bus station has local services as well as links to Cardiff, Swansea and London Victoria. In addition to these the award winning Grass Routes scheme available to Monmouthshire residents and visitors whose accommodation providers have registered, delivers a service to areas where there may not be a regular bus route, ideal for those linear walks. |
