An exhilarating hike with nearly 3,000ft of ascent, rewarding with some of the most spectacular scenery in the Wye Valley. Starting with a climb along Buckholt Ridge, this route descends into the valley before scaling the breathtaking high ground east of Monmouth. Along the way, you'll explore the landmarks such as Doward Fort, Suck Stone, Hearkening Rock, and the Buck Stone, each offering stunning panoramic views. Starting from Beacon Hill, this loop walk provides some beautiful open views of the Monmouthshire countryside. The walk drops down through Trellech passing St Nicholas church and onward into Woolpitch Wood where hopefully the bluebells will be on display. Return is through Hygga with its 16th Century dovecote and a series of paths and lanes back up to Beacon Hill. A true Monmouthshire walk.

Starting from the Forest Micro Brewery, the route heads towards the banks of the River Severn, offering views of the historic original bridge. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to enjoy lunch at the café by the Harbour or your own packed lunch, while exploring sights of historical interest. During the walk you’ll hear the intriguing story of Miss Mary Jones' tragic murder, a tale that adds a haunting touch to the route. The walk continues with views across Severn Estuary with both bridges in the distance, before heading across fields to return to the brewery. At the finish, an opportunity to relax and sample or purchase locally crafted beers and ciders – the perfect way to end your walk.

Do come and walk with the Hobbit, Mrs Bilbo Baggins from Bag End. Previously known as Belladonna Took, Mrs Baggins is greatly irritated by her son’s fame as he deserted her to go on an adventure. Eager to tell her side of the story and show off her fortune telling skills, and reveal the secret lives of the tree spirits and elves in Great Barnetts Wood. A walk with Mrs Baggins is not to be missed.

We are delighted to repeat a tour of St Mary’s Priory by the Chepstow Priory Friends. Built in 1071, resting place of Anne Boleyn’s lady in waiting and one of Charles I's executioners, and still in use today. We will hear about the history and possibly a visit to the bell chamber.

A lovely walk with a real treat at the finish! St Briavels, well known for its medieval castle used by King John of England and Henry II, as an admin centre for the Forest of Dean. The walk takes you through quiet lanes and across open farmland with lovely views. At the end and included in the ticket price, tea and cake will be provided by Angharad, of The Preservation Society, winner of many awards. Proceeds will be donated to Velindre Cancer Centre, a charity close to Angharad’s heart.
